An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

QUIET WEATHER PATTERN: While we might see a shower or two on radar along the way in very widely scattered spots, our weather looks generally dry through Saturday. Afternoons will be a little warmer, with highs mostly in the mid 80s, and morning lows in the 60s. Even Sunday looks drier on the 12Z GFS; we will probably just mention a small risk of a shower.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Mostly fair for high school football games tomorrow and Friday night, with kickoff temperatures in the upper 70s. Rain won’t be a problem this week. For Saturday’s Auburn-Louisiana Tech game at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the sky will be mostly clear with a kickoff temperature (6:00 p.m.) of 80 degrees, falling into the 70s during the game. Alabama-Virginia Tech will be inside the Georgia Dome Saturday night; the weather outside will be mostly clear with temperatures falling from near 80 into the 70s.

NEXT WEEK: Increasing moisture and a broad upper trough will mean a chance of showers for the first half of next week with a mostly cloudy sky. The rain probably won’t be too heavy, but some rain seems likely at times Monday and Tuesday with a high around 80.

TROPICS: Hurricane Jimena is making landfall today on the Pacific Coast of Baja California; sustained winds are down to 100 mph. The system will continue to weaken, but it will hang around that region for a few days, and the biggest threat will come from flooding.

In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Erika is surrounded by dry air, and is forecast to slowly weaken over the next five days. The track has been adjusted to the left a bit, but the center of the storm should still be just east of the Bahamas by Monday. NHC weakens Erika to a tropical depression Sunday. Watch the Weather Xtreme video, and you will see the top ten analogs for this storm all recurved in the Atlantic, and that is the most likely solution for Erika if she hangs on.

No sign of any tropical trouble in the Gulf of Mexico for the next week.
