We thought there would be storms today, but mainly of the afternoon persuasion.
Sorry for the weather curveball this morning, but we have thunderstorms over and southwest of the Birmingham metro right now.
Heavy rain and lightning right now along I-59 just southwest of the Tuscaloosa/Jefferson County border. Another storm just west and northwest of I-59 to the west of downtown. Moderate rain covers the northern half of Jefferson County.
Richard Viola in Pleasant Grove has picked up over an inch of rain this morning!
Elsewhere, moderate rain covers parts of Cullman, Blount, northern St. Clair, Etowah, Calhoun and Cleburne Counties. There is a heavy shower on I-20 in the Leeds/Moody area, extending over into northern Talladega County.
Everything is moving north northeast.
