Thunderstorms are moving slowly southward across the Tennessee Valley this afternoon.

They cover parts of eastern Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Morgan and northeastern Winston Counties.

The heaviest activity was approaching Double Springs and Addison in Winston County.

New cells were forming over extreme southern Walker County over into northeastern Tuscaloosa County, generally south of Oakman. This activity may be enhanced by an approaching outflow boundary.

Storms moving into northern Shelby county have weakened a good bit.

Another storms was located between Rainsville and Fort Payne in DeKalb County.

Be alert for heavy rain and lightning from the heavier cells.

The activity is sagging southward. Whether the heavier stuff up north will be able to reach the Birmingham metro remains to be seen, since it is moving so slowly.
