Showers continue over NE Alabama late this morning. At 11:45 they extended mostly from Guntersville and Huntsville northeastward.

Down in East Central Alabama the main showers, moderate to heavy, were over Central and South Tallapoosa County. Some lightning with those.

There were few, if any showers within a 40 mile radius of Birmingham at 11:45.

Way down south, our friend, the Gulf of Mexico was sending a large batch of showers and thunderstorms inland. They extended from Washington and Clarke in SW Alabama southeastward to NW Florida including Pensacola, Fort Walton and Panama City. Much scary lightning with those and a number of places getting big downpours. That family of storms was also moving northward.

WHERE IS THE LOW PRESSURE AREA?
Based on hourly surface map analysis, the center was over Central and South Louisiana but also over parts of East Texas and the NW Gulf of Mexico. The upper air low was centered over North Texas near Dallas-Forth Worth. All of this is in the game plan for upcoming weather in Alabama.
