As of 12:40 this afternoon, so far not a great number of showers and thunderstorms within the Alabama borders. However, they were increasing in number near the coast and over South Mississippi and headed our way. These showers and thunderstorms will be increasing as the afternoon goes on.
Based on animated radar, it is fairly easy to pick out the center of the low-pressure area over Eastern Louisiana and SW Mississippi. The latest surface analysis verifies the center of the low in the general vicinity of Monroe, Louisiana and Vicksburg, Mississippi.
We are still looking for a lot of rain over the next few days. Showers and thunderstorms should be rather prominent tonight, Wednesday and Thursday. Over the next several days rain amounts of 2-3 inches should be fairly common.
