There were no real strong storms within about a 40-mile radius of Birmingham at 3 pm.
Several areas of Alabama were experiencing very strong thunderstorms at mid-afternoon and a few of those were strong to severe. The NWS posted a Tornado Warning for Central Autauga County earlier.
At 3:00 p.m., most of the stronger storms had moved out of Chilton County where there were several reports of wind damage in the north part of the county around 11:00 a.m.
Also at 3:00 p.m., it was pouring rain from Marshall County eastward across South DeKalb County into Cherokee County. The rain appeared to be especially heavy over SW DeKalb County.
Montgomery County was under a Flash Flood Warning and very heavy rain in downtown Montgomery caused one road to be closed.
With the ground so wet, and several more days of numerous storms, flash flooding may become an increasing problem
Another individual storm near Marion in Perry County was moving NE toward Chilton County.
All of these showers and storms were moving generally NNE to NE and there seems to be no end to the parade of storms. There is deep tropical air settled in over Alabama and little chance of a complete break in storms, at least all the way through the weekend.
