First, let me mention there is a flood warning for Village Creek at Avenue W in Ensley. Stage is at 10.8 feet and will crest this morning at 11.2 feet. Flood stage is 10 feet. Minor flooding will occur with these stages.
Several paved roads have been washed out near Mountain Creek in Autauga County. Several roads were closed early this morning near Deatsville due to high water.
Virtually every square inch of Alabama east of I-65 and north of I-85 is getting rain at this hour. And fairly heavy rain.
West of that, a growing mass of rain and storms was over Dallas, Perry and Chilton Counties.
North of that, more showers were massing over West Alabama, from Greene and Hale Counties northward through Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Pickens, Fayette and Walker Counties.
More rain was over eastern Mississippi.
This does not bode well for the late morning game at Tuscaloosa between Alabama and North Texas State, where it looks like showers are likely throughout the game. The only hope is that the rain area will lift north of the Capstone by gametime. Take the rainsuits!
It’s too early to tell for Auburn and their game tonight with West Virginia. But showers are a good bet there too, and perhaps the chance of a soaking rain. There is some hope that the rain mass will be north of Auburn by then.
UAB and Troy could fare better with just passing showers or a storm during their game in Troy this afternoon. But take the rain gear still.
