NWS/Birmingham issued a Special Weather Statement for Talladega County good until 6:15 based on a strong thunderstorm 5 miles north of the community of Mignon. It was practically stationary. It could produce winds up to 45 mph and dime-size hail, not to mention plenty of lightning.

Earlier, the Weather Service had posted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Macon County, but they canceled it at 5:38.

At 5:45 p.m., extreme North Alabama was virtually free of showers from about Hamilton, Cullman and Anniston northward. There were some strong thunderstorms from Shelby County and Perry County southward. They were scattered and not as numerous or as strong as yesterday afternoon. The northernmost thunderstorm we could find in the state at this hour was over North Lamar County in West Alabama near Sulligent. Everything is moving toward the SE.

If any of the stronger thunderstorms approach your location, for the remainder of this afternoon and evening, they could produce strong gusty winds and dangerous lightning.

Picking out just a few of the stronger storms at 5:45:

* Perry County south of Marion
* Clay County near Shady Grove
* Wilcox County in the eastern edge

That is just a few of the stronger storms. Other storms could form quickly or grow stronger.
