That long line of showers and thunderstorms that has been
ongoing since yesterday afternoon and overnight was entering Extreme NW Alabama early this morning.

At 4 am, the line of storms extended from West and Middle Tennessee, near Nashville, down across Extreme NW Alabama into South Mississippi and SE Louisiana. The line of storms was very strong most of the night but had weakened considerably overall early this morning. However, still producing some heavy rain and considerable lightning.

A Tornado Watch was issued for parts of South Louisiana until 6 am but part of that has been canceled.

The last warning issued out of New Orleans was at 3am and that was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning instead of a Tornado Warning.

No warnings now in effect in Mississippi. Last one was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Natchez area that expired at 3am.

At 4 this morning, most of the lightning, by far was over South Mississippi and SW Louisiana. Even there it has decreased.

FOCUS ON ALABAMA
* Heaviest rain was over the NW counties from Marion County NE to Lawrence Country.
* Showers and some thunderstorms will be moving across the Birmingham Metro area during morning drive but probably decreasing in intensity.
* This timing bodes well for Friday night high school football. Most games should be played under dry conditions.
* The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has dropped any formal outlook of severe weather for any location today–even a slight risk.
