Just did a 1/2 mile walk with my little dog and we instantly realized a fresh, cool northerly breeze.

Translation: The front has passed Birmingham and is now down in Central Alabama. These numbers tell the story:

* Only 62 degrees in Muscle Shoals with a dew point of 48
* 69 temperature in Birmingham, dew point 63
* A muggy 80 in Montgomery with dew point 75.

At 11 am, almost no showers over the north half of the state–just a few light ones. The main showers (moderate to heavy) were in a narrow band from south of Montgomery eastward to near Tuskegee and Opelika.

Down in SW Alabama, a moderate shower was approaching Monroe County

WATER TO SPARE
Only 0.30 rain overnight at Birmingham Airport but other parts of the metro area had a lot more. (1.55 for example in NE Trussville. Even so, the airport official total has now reached 54.51 inches for the year to date, a whopping surplus of 12.19 inches. I cannot remember a surplus that big in a long, long time! October is traditionally our driest month of the year but the weather gets wetter and wetter in November and December. And, there is the dreaded secondary severe weather season in November and early December!
