**No afternoon Weather Xtreme Video today**
RIGHT NOW: The tornado watch remains in effect for West Alabama until 7:00… still seems to be a marginal situation with the main upper forcing lagging well to the west; it will be in here tomorrow when the air will be cool and stable. There are a number of tornado warnings over East Mississippi, but the storms will do downhill very quickly once the sun goes down a little before 6:00. Another warning or two is possible, but widespread severe weather is not expected. We have seen hardly any lightning this afternoon; these are basically showers with some cases of rotating updrafts.
TONIGHT/TOMORROW: The main rain band will work into West Alabama this evening, then slowly moving to the east. Tomorrow still promises to be a cool and wet day, with rain throughout the morning. The rain will end from west to east during the afternoon, and hopefully it will be gone by the time the trick or treaters do their thing tomorrow evening. We will stay in the 50s all day; it will be pretty raw. No thunder, no severe weather, just rain.
SUNDAY AND NEXT WEEK: Fantastic fall weather is the story with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights.
NASCAR WEATHER: Rain is likely for tomorrow’s truck race at the Talladega Superspeedway with afternoon temperatures in the 57 to 60 degree range. Sunday looks perfect for the running of the Amp Energy 500 with a sunny sky and a high in the mid 60s.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: For tonight’s high school games, take the rain gear. Rain is likely for games over West Alabama, and the rain should reach the East Alabama stadiums by the time the games are over. Temperatures will drop through the 60s.
The Magic City Classic is more than a football game. Think of it as a huge family reunion involving thousands! They arrive each October several days before the annual clash between Alabama A&M and Alabama State. They meet with old friends, lots of tailgating at Legion Field—you name it. There will be a parade Saturday with a kick off at 2:30. It will be much cooler with a good chance of rain into the early part of the game, so you will need a jacket and rain gear. It will do good to get up to 60 at kick off and falling into the 50s. For high school games tonight, wet weather for most of the games, mainly over the western half of the state and some strong storms possible. In other college games, Concordia will be at Miles at 6:00 this evening. Looks wet with a good chance of rain and maybe some strong storms. In the 60s at kick off, dropping to 58 in the second half.
Ole Miss will be at Auburn for an early kick off at 11:21 a.m. Rain is likely at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Much cooler with middle 60s through the game. Depaw will be at Birmingham Southern for a noon kick off on Saturday. Rain should be diminishing at that time but a lot cooler. About 58 at kick off and mid 50s in the second half. UAB is as far in West Texas as you can go and still be in Texas. They are in El Paso to play the University of Texas/El Paso with a 2:00 p.m. kick off. All sunshine with game-time temperatures 65 to 70. Jacksonville State will be at Clarksville, Tennessee to play Austin-Peay for a 4:00 p.m. kick off. Dry weather, but very cool, with 56 at kick off and 48 by the end of the game.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
STORM ALERT XTREME: Want to be trained as a storm spotter? Want to join the ABC 33/40 Skywatcher team? Our annual training event, Storm Alert Xtreme, is coming up on Saturday November 14 at the BJCC during the annual Birmingham International Auto Show. You will be trained by the best SKYWARN trainer in the nation, our own Brian Peters (he has trained over 6,000 Alabama storm spotters over the years). We encourage all of our Skywatchers to attend this every year; you simply cannot get enough training. We will begin at 9:30, and be out by 3:30. And, everyone that attends Storm Alert Xtreme gets free admission to the Alabama International Auto Show. There is no admission charge, and no need to register. Just show up, but get there early for a good seat. We had a packed house last year.
Brian Peters will have the Weather Xtreme videos tomorrow and Sunday; my next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 7:00 a.m. Monday!
