The leading eastern line of showers late tonight extended from near Scottsboro in the NE corner of the state, southwestward to near Birmingham, Centreville and Marion.

The line was moving east very slowly but the individual showers or storms were moving quickly NE.

Based on lightning detection equipment, I could not find any lightning. That has been the story all evening.

Behind the leading line of showers is a wide band–at least 60 miles wide–of showers. A number of those are moderate to heavy so we still have a lot of rain to deal with the rest of the night. These numerous showers cover almost all of Mississippi at this hour.
