Radar at 3:35 this afternoon sure did look strange. Nothing going on over most of Shelby and Jefferson Counties. We were in a dry area, but completely surrounded by showers and storms.
The strongest storms were near the Tennessee border and also over East Alabama. It is pouring rain in places like Macon County east of the Montgomery area.
It was also raining very heavily along the Etowah/Marshall County line in NE Alabama and in Madison County in the extreme north.
Strong storms were also in progress over Lowndes County in South/Central Alabama.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for Cullman County for a time, but the strongest storms are now east of that area.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was also posted for Lauderdale and Limestone Counties in extreme north, but those warnings expired at 3:30.

TO THE WEST OF ALABAMA
More very strong thunderstorms across Southern Arkansas, North Louisiana, Central and South Mississippi headed eastward. We do not know if they will weaken before reaching Alabama. Probably will, since our atmosphere has been worked over and needs a rest. It is pouring rain along US-82 across South Arkansas.
Later today, probably this evening, we will try to round up some rain amounts. We usually do not get all the reports until after 7:30. Gotta be some impressive numbers coming from some parts of the state.
