THE STORY OF CHICKEN
We are not referring to chicken fillet like those cows on TV where they say, “Eat more chickin.” Instead, we are talking about the small town in Alaska that is bitter cold in winter. On January 8 last winter, the official low was 68 below zero at Chicken. On that same morning, it was 65 below at O’Brien Creek and 61 below at Northway Airport. The high at Chicken was 58 below. During that bitter cold, the low temperatures at Fairbanks Airport dropped below 45 below zero for five days in a row.
We will watch Chicken closely all winter. I am mesmerized by that place. (and a lot of other places)
