Some scattered light rain continues around the Birmingham metro area. Gusty northwest winds have developed behind the cold front that is moving into Georgia, and temperatures will drop steadily through the night. Most places will wind up in the 38 to 42 degree range by daybreak tomorrow.
After a peek at the 18Z computer model runs, really no change in our thinking about the situation Saturday morning. Some light snow or snow flurries are likely, but no serious travel issues or major accumulation. A dusting is likely for most places; maybe 1 inch in a few spots over East Alabama.
ATLANTA WEATHER: Lots of people headed to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game Saturday… their weather will be very similar to ours. Cold and dry Friday and Friday night, but some light snow or snow flurries are likely during the day Saturday. For now we won’t expect any travel issues in the Atlanta metro. We will guarantee dry weather for the Alabama/Florida game with light wind and about 70 degrees at kickoff. Those domes sure make forecasting easier…
My next complete forecast discussion will be posted by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow along with a fresh Weather Xtreme video.
