Thunderstorms remain quite strong across Central Alabama this afternoon.
At 2:30 pm, the storms were sorta lined up in a row from Pickens County, on the west side of the state, eastward across South Tuscaloosa, South Shelby, North Chilton and Coosa County. They were moving generally eastward.
That is not all of the thunderstorms by any means, just some of the stronger ones.
NWS/Birmingham issued a Special Weather Statement for Chilton County until 3 pm (Significant Weather Alert)
Lightning is a real problem today. Read this comment from Stephen Pridmore, the ABC 33/40 Skywatcher for Montevallo, word for word:

Freaky…thought I’d report this just because I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like it. From my position in Montevallo, I can see the southern flank of the svr thunderstorm over Maylene and Alabaster. The horizon is complete with a typical dark blue storm cloud. The interesting part is when I step out on my back porch, there is so much lightning and thunder from the storm (the lightning is not visible from my position) that it’s producing a constant echo of rumbling. Sounds almost exactly like the engine of a jumbo jet, to the point that I thought I was hearing a jumbo jet above the storm, along with the thunder. After a few minutes, I determined it was the echo from constant thunder coming from several sections of the cell. Just goes to show how active the lightning display must be for those people north of me…
