It is not a pretty sight. Not like marching high school or college bands or a military parade.

Instead, there is usually lots of trouble.

And it has happened down in South Alabama over the last few days including yesterday because of thunderstorms, in batches, moving generally across the same areas. We weather humans call that the “training effect.” . Consider these notes:

* Late yesterday, the Baldwin County Sheriff reported the on ramps to I-65 were under water. East of Bay Minette, several sections of U.S. 31 were under water.

* Just before 6 last evening the sheriff in Escambia County reported extensive flooding in Atmore with numerous roads flooded and some cars stranded. PS: That is Escambia County, Alabama, not the neighboring Escambia County Florida. That is a very interesting quirk of geography when you can cross the Florida border out of Escambia County and still be in another Escambia County. My little inquisitive mind wonders if that is the only example of that in the USA. I love geography.

* The EMA in Covington County reported widespread flooding with several roads closed.

* The Atmore Police reported widespread flooding with numerous homes flooded. Many roads were also flooded and became impassable.

Has the parade ended and disbanded. No, no, much of that same area is under a Flash Flood Watch again today and showers were already in progress this morning over that part of South Alabama.
