Late this morning, showers were in progress across about the south half of Alabama. So far today, not as heavy as yesterday.

However, at 11:40 am there were some moderate to heavy showers over South Central Alabama generally between Montgomery and Mobile.

Big difference today–little or no lightning so far, quite a contrast to yesterday. Some light rain as far north as about the Moundville-Centreville area.

Now, we look in the opposite direction. A sharp cold front is approaching. The front has now passed the Birmingham area, Look at this north to south temperature profile based on 11 am reports:

49 Haleyville
55 Birmingham
63 Montgomery
65 Evergreen, Mobile
66 Ozark.

And, traveling NW, quite a dropoff:

46 Tupelo
38 Memphis
29 Fayetteville, home of the University of Arkansas
15 Topeka
