Not many, mind you.
The widely spaced ones are mostly over the NE part of the state from near Oneonta northeastward to Huntsville, Ft. Payne and Scottsboro. Also a few near the Georgia border in Cherokee and Cleburne Counties.
Crossing over the border, there were some heavier showers in the SW suburbs in Atlanta. Everything is moving from the NW toward the SE.
These showers in Alabama are forming quicker than they did yesterday. Don’t really know what that means. It still looks like our best chance of getting some showers and thunderstorms will be later Friday and Friday night. Some of the pesky model guidance that we get, seems to tone down a bit the amount of rain for that period.
THE LOWER FOUR DOZEN
Extremes of temperature down here, where 48 states border each other, included 117 yesterday in Death Valley and a low of 40 this morning in Alturas, California. How about that? Both extremes in the same state. It’s the elevation. The elevation factor makes a great difference.
WAR ZONE WEATHER
The temperature in Baghdad was 102 tonight about 9 o’clock. (Iraq time) The humidity was only 14%. Their forecast calls for highs well over 100 for the next five days reaching 109-111 Sunday and Monday.
