Here we go with another one of those Significant Weather Alerts. It is a special weather statement concerning some strong thunderstorms.
NWS/Huntsville issued that because of a strong thunderstorm near Hazel Green. The Alert is for Jackson and Madison Counties. This strong thunderstorm crossed over into Alabama from Southern Tennessee and is tracking mainly across NE Madison County (Meridianville will be affected) and then it will move into Jackson County.
At 12:50 p.m., there were some other showers across extreme North and NE Alabama, but mostly isolated ones. One was along the St. Clair/Etowah County line near Steele and another over South Morgan County. All of them were moving toward the SE.
THE OLD BIRMINGHAM THERMOMETER
It crossed the 90-degree mark early this afternoon for the first time since July 12. We had 5 days in a row that the temperature failed to reach 90. That is most unusual for July.
