Thunderstorms were few and far between in Alabama early this afternoon, but there were a few strong ones over the NE part of the state.
So much so, that the NWS/Huntsville issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for East-Central Jackson County. This is what you call a real short-fused warning because it is in effect for only 14 minutes. The cluster of strong storms was over the east part of that county about 7 miles south of Bridgeport and moving east at 20. It will affect Flat Rock and Higdon. It may also move across the NE part of DeKalb County.
Further south, another strong storm was over the NW part of Calhoun County near Wellington and Ohatchee and moving toward Weaver and Alexandria.
Still another moderate to strong storm was entering the north edge of Etowah County.
