That line of strong thunderstorms that was across Kentucky when you went to bed continued south overnight and by daybreak, it was a line of light showers over South Tennessee.
Nothing to get excited about.
That line has regenerated this morning. At 8:50 am, the line of showers and storms extended all the way across the north tier of Alabama counties along the Tennessee border.
The strongest storms were over the extreme NW where lightning is already active.
NWS/Huntsville issued a Special Weather Statement (Significant Weather Alert) until 9:15 for:
Limestone
Colvert
Lauderdale
And for Lawrence County until 9:30
The line of storms will continue toward the SE at 25 mph producing dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, gusts to around 30.
NOTE–A 9:20 AM UPDATE
NWS/Huntsville extended the Significant Weather Alert for Colbert, Lawrence and Limestone County until 10 am.
An outflow boundry that crossed into Alabama overnight is hiding somewhere. We don’t know exactly where. Look for some additional storms to develop further south as the day goes on.
You will see numerous Significant Weather Alerts issued today and tonight, almost faster than we can post them. NWS/Huntsville has issued three of them in the last 30 minutes. (See above)
I hereby predict that today and tonight will require four pots of coffee…life goes on…
