**We are in high traffic mode, meaning no comments for now, as soon as traffic calms down a bit we will go back into regular operation. Our live chat is up and running here.*
First… the latest images from around Alabama…
*Snow continues to increase over the western half of Alabama, with the ground white now in parts of Marion and Lamar counties. The heavier snow will spread south and east during the rest of the day, and our ongoing forecast still looks good, with the best moisture along and south of I-20 for about 70 miles, where 1 to 2 inches is likely.
Some random reports from our Skywatchers and other sources…
*Several reports here at Walker Co EMA about snow covered roads
*From Walnut Grove: “it’s been snowing moderately here for about an hour now….not much snow on the grassy areas, but the roads are already becoming snow covered and slick”
*From Bluff Park: “Yay…beautiful larger snow flakes coming down now.”
**Snowing light to moderate in Guin right now”
*Just got a call from Saragossa, paved roads & concrete covered with snow right now.
*From Skywatcher Vic Bell in Etowah County: “Snowing pretty good here at 33…everything getting white….just got back from Collinsville where it was snowing hard….side streets, bridges, and Hwy 68 going up the mtn was covered but no problem driving….i went up the mtn at 45 mph”
No reports of traffic issues at this point; some counties have rolled sand trucks.
