All of the worst thunderstorms now well down into Central and SE Alabama.

In fact the line of showers and storms that separated in the middle this afternoon has reunited and reached all the way across the state. The line extends from North Sumter County east across Greene, Hale and SW Chilton County and angles down across the Montgomery area into SE Alabama.

NWS/Birmingham has posted Significant Weather Alerts for:

Hale, Green and Sumter County in West Alabama until 5:30
Barbour County in SE Alabama until 5
Central and South Montgomery County until 5:15

Severe Thunderstorm Watch was cancelled earlier for a number of counties including the Greater Birmingham area. It is still in effect until 6 pm mainly along and south of the line of storms.

That was a classic example of a severe thunderstorm in the Tuscaloosa area this afternoon. Widespread reports of trees and power lines down including some on houses.
