A note from Tammy Power at Cheaha State Park reports that roads in Cleburne and Randolph Counties are still icy this morning from Thursday’s snowfall. Roads 49 and 281 are still really bad according to her. She says her staff is having trouble getting to the park, even with 4 wheel drive.
Black ice is a real problem because temperatures have been below freezing for so long. People traveling a normal rate of speed can encounter an unexpected patch of it and be in trouble instantaneously.
Be careful all across eastern Alabama, where snowfall accumulations and leftover water on roads froze Thursday night and has not melted yet.
