Rain and thunderstorms continue across much of Central and South Alabama tonight.

A weakening area of rain and elevated thunderstorms over southern Fayette, Walker, Tuscaloosa and Jefferson County is moving northeast. Most everyone across Jefferson County has probably heard at least a little thunder in the past hour or so.

To the south, moderate rain covers much of South and South Central Alabama, especially from Marion to Columbiana to Lafayette.

Widespread moderate to heavy rain covers much of southeastern Arkansas, across Mississippi and into Southwest Alabama. Heavy storms are in the Vicksburg, MS area. Extensive flooding is being reported in Vicksburg, with many streets flooded, some to a depth of 3 feet. Water was reported to be entering the Police Station. There are numerous stalled cars and houses have been flooded.

The only severe thunderstorm warnings now just west of the Jackson MS area and just east of Pensacola in the Florida Panhandle. Lots of flash flood warnings.

Rain and thunderstorms will continue across Alabama overnight. There is still a chance for severe weather over about the western third of the state, from Muscle Shoals to Birmingham to Montgomery.

A tornado watch is in effect to the west of Alabama. There could be an isolated tornado over Southwest Alabama later, mainly from Sumter County southward…
