The more extensive and heaviest rain has shifted over into East and SE Alabama and especially into Georgia.
However, not all is well and done. There will be some more rain today but not the continuous heavy stuff.
The troublemaker low pressure area was centered from South Alabama well down into the Gulf of Mexico. There was a long line of thunderstorms from just off the NW Florida Coast southward across the Gulf almost to the Yucatan! At least, we will not have those to deal with.
The wind has subsided quite a bit. During the night, 33/40 Skywatcher Vic Bell, in Scrougeout (NE Etowah County) had a gust as high as 49 mph.
Thanks for early notes from GoldwingDave and rdwhynot. Hope your morning papers do not become airborne. I am a newspaper junkie and I appreciate the good service. I have lived in Trussville since 1989 and have not missed but one paper and that was a Post-Hearld after they switched to afternoon. Dave, you also provide a valuable service dispatching. Yes, Steve was on duty but I am not sure if it was Station One downtown BHM or Center Point.
This post intended for early risers and morning drive (translation: Rush, Rush, Get Out of My Way Hour) James will be along with a complete discussion around 6 or so and we will have updates as needed throughout the day. We will also post some rain amounts later this morning.
Meanwhile, I am headed for my beloved coffee pot and morning paper! Maybe, even an intense brief power nap!
