The strongest storm in the Greater Birmingham area at 8:15 tonight was north of the city and moving away.
It passed near or just west of Gardendale. It was moving NNW and will hug close toU.S. 31 and I-65 as it moves through North Jefferson County.
Another smaller storm with moderate to heavy rain was near Jasper, in Walker County.
The 2 or 3 storms that formed over Shelby County fizzled but there was about three lightning strokes when one of them passed near Helena.
