I am convinced that the two thunderstorms north and NW of Birmingham tonight were the product of the heat island effect.

At least partially so.

A NW moving outflow boundry crossed the Birmingham area. It helped trigger two thunderstorms that got stronger as they passed into NW and North Jefferson County.

The two storms gave some impressive rain amounts to parts of North and NW Jefferson County and in Walker County.

Ligfht southerly winds were blowing across the area.

Winds aloft were light from the south up to 10,000 feet.

Lots of sunshine today heating the streets and highways in the Birmingham area.
