Not a lot happening across Central Alabama at this hour. We can see precipitation on radar, but much of it is not reaching the ground now from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham to Gadsden and Anniston.

No traffic problems this morning.

Dry air still is in place across Central Alabama, were dewpoints are in the lower 20s. It is taking awhile for the precipitation to moisten the atmosphere and start reaching the ground.

Winter storm warnings have been extended up into the Gadsden area and cover areas from DeKalb, Marshall, Blount, Jefferson to Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties and points south. A winter weather advisory is in effect for areas northwest of Birmingham.

Snow continues this morning over Southwest and West Central Alabama. A lot of snow has been falling at Demopolis. Snow is starting to stick in Monroeville.

Radars to the west show snow back into eastern texas, with snow covering all of northern Louisiana.

Radar returns over Central Mississippi are increasing. This precipitation will push east and east northeast into West Central Alabama through the morning.

The I-59 corridor will see a dusting to one inch.

The best chance for 1-3 inches of snow will extend from Sumter through parts of Hale, Perry, Marengo and Dallas Counties eastward through Chilton and into the Montgomery area and points east and south. Some places in South Central Alabama may see 2-4 inches.

Temperatures are in the middle 30s, but will fall 3-5 degrees when cooling tstarts taking place as snow falls into the dry air and evaporates.

Eventually the atmosphere will moisten and the snow will start reaching the ground.

James is north of Montgomery in the Storm Chaser and reports that snow is increasing there. See his live stream here.
