Still below Montgomery watching the snow fall. Simply beautiful… you can see my live stream in the upper left part of the blog. About 1/2 inch on the ground here, about 2 inches down the road from here in Greenville.

*Snow is increasing over West Alabama, counties like Tuscaloosa, Greene, Marengo, Sumter, and Hale. Snow should begin in the Birmingham metro very shortly.

*We are still projecting 1 to 2 inches of snow for the I-20 corridor today.

*Roads will be mostly wet since temperatures should hover just above freezing as the snow falls. However, bridges will become icy rather quickly this evening as temperatures fall into the upper 20s.

*The main window for snow for places like Birmingham and Anniston is between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

*Big time snow continues over South Mississippi and South Alabama. 12,000 people in Mississippi are without power due to heavy wet snow bringing down tree limbs onto powerlines. Some spots are nearing 6 inches, and the snow continues.

*The heaviest snow in Alabama will be south of U.S. 80, down to near U.S. 84. For many of these communities, it will be the most snow for one day on record.
