THIS MORNING: Most places are down in the 22 to 27 degree range early this morning, and it sure doesn’t feel like a spring morning in Alabama. But, we begin the warming process later today with a high in the low 50s as we enjoy sunshine back in full force.
TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Sunny weather continues into the weekend, and the warming trend rolls along. We are still projecting mid 50s tomorrow, low 60s Saturday, and mid to upper 60s Sunday. Nice in quiet in the weather office.
NEXT WEEK: A short wave coming out of the Rockies will set the stage for rain and storms west of Alabama Monday; the latest GFS runs have not been as aggressive with the strength of that system, but it still should bring rain and possibly a thunderstorm to our state late Monday night into Tuesday. Seems like the severe weather threat for now is low with marginal dynamics and limited instability. Drier air follows on Wednesday, and there is no cold air involved, so temperatures should remain comfortable for the middle part of next week.
VOODOO LAND: The Arctic Oscillation flips back into the negative range by mid-month, so we still figure we have more cold weather to go. But, this is March, so cold snaps are not severe or long lasting this time of the year. I figure we will visit the sub-freezing range a few more times this season. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.
