The storm now moving across western sections of the Birmingham metro and heading toward downtown could contain hail to the size of marbles. That’s 0.5 inches in diameter. The severe criteria now is 1 inch (the size of quarters.)
It will affect Hueytown, Fairfield, Midfield, downtown Birmingham down into Homewood between now and 5:30 p.m.
