A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect just across the Mississippi state line for Itawamba and northeastern Lee counties. This storm is moving east at 15 mph and will approach the Alabama border near Lamar and Marion counties by around 5:00 PM CDT.
The storm has a history of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, and could maintain or even intensify as it moves east. If you are in areas like Sulligent, Vernon, Detroit, Guin, Hamilton, or other parts of northwest Alabama near the Mississippi border, stay alert and monitor the weather closely. This storm may prompt warnings as it crosses into Alabama.
