A long, skinny line of moderate to heavy showers was moving quickly east across Alabama early on this Friday morning.
At 2:15 am, the line extended from east of Huntsville southward to near Guntersville, Springville, Columbiana and Clanton.
This is the actual arctic cold front. As soon as it passes where you live, the wind shifts to the west and temperatures start to tumble.
The cold front passed Birmingham Airport at 1:18 am. Winds shifted abruptly to the west and gusted to 41 mph.
To our west, in the colder air, it was like this at 2 am:
45 degrees at Columbus, Miss.
34 at Greenwood, Miss.
33 at Greenville, Miss. (near the Mississippi River)
27 in Little Rock
18 with light snow at Fayetteville, Ark.
The wind will remain strong and gusty for the remainder of the night.
