At 8:30 this morning, the nearest precipitation to Alabama was across North Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. We will post occasional progress reports as the day goes on. Still looks like for the Birmingham area, the precipitation will start around 9 o’clock tonight. As if often the case, Birmingham will be marginal for icing.
We will be able to be much more specific later this afternoon.
A low pressure area is already forming in the West Central Gulf of Mexico. By midnight, it should be along the Louisiana Coast. It will continue toward the NE crossing South Alabama tomorrow. It appears that precipitation will be widespread at daybreak Thursday from East Texas eastward to Alabama, Georgia and the Western Carolinas as well as into much of Tennessee.
