A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6 pm today for a large part of North and Central Alabama, It extends as far south as Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Talladega and Randolph County. It is for a mix of light freezing rain and light sleet mixed with rain.
There is a chance that icy spots may occur on bridges and overpasses, especially the elevated ones,
This of course includes such cities as Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Clanton, Centreville, Ashland, Roanoke, Anniston, Heflin, Sylacauga and Talladega (just to name a few)
In Northwest Alabama, the EMA Director in Marion County reports that roads are becoming icy including the Hamilton area. It is now 29 degrees in Hamilton and near freezing in Birmingham.
