A low pressure area was developing over the Texas Panhandle today. That is just the beginning of a lot of weather troubles that will eventually affect a wide area.
Of first importance is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch already in effect for extreme East Texas, West and Central Louisiana and extreme SW Arkansas. It goes until 7:00 this evening. A line of intense thunderstorms was already in progress in the western part of the watch area over extreme East Texas.
By daybreak Tuesday, the low will be over NE Arkansas and the Missouri boot heel and already causing problems over the Midwest in the form of increasing snow. A strong high pressure system will be bulging down in the wake of the low from Central Canada. Bitter cold air is in the center of that high.
TOMORROW
The Storm Prediction Center has expanded their outlook for a slight risk of severe weather from early tomorrow morning until early Wednesday morning to cover virtually all of Alabama and Misssisippi. It also covers West and South Georgia and all but extreme South Florida. It also includes the east half of Louisiana, including Monroe, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

That is an unofficial total for part of extreme West New York State in a little over a week and more snow expected. We will try to have a Weather by the Numbers rundown later today.
WARNINGS
Three Tornado Warnings were issued this morning by the NWS in Key West, Florida and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning out of Houston. This does not count a wide array of Winter Storm Advisories, Watches and Warnings.
