* 56 below zero was the low in Eagle, Alaska this morning. Very, very cold in our far-north state…about as cold as it has been all winter.
* 75 below zero was the wind chill in good ole Deadhorse. Would you like to be ice fishing there today?
* 35 below was the low in Fairbanks. They have 13 inches of snow.
* 53 below was the temperature at Old Crow in the extreme north part of the Yukon Territory in NW Canada. I love that name.
* 46 mph was the wind gust at mid-morning at Ruidoso, New Mexico. No thunderstorms. Picked that spot at random because it shows how the weather is beginning to rumble in the west. Already a major low pressure area is getting its act together from the Texas Panhandle to Wyoming. This will consolidate into an intense low in the western pains that will move NE and bring foul weather to a wide area.
* 40 mph is the gust at St. Johns, in Eastern Arizona and at Fort Carson, near Colorado Springs. The tumbleweeds probably becoming mobile and bouncing across the open plains. Tis an interesting sight.
* 15 below zero at Presque Isle, Maine was the coldest in the Lower 48 this morning. That town is way, way up in the extreme north part of that state.
* 56 below zero is the temperature in Ojmjakon, Sibera. Spring is NOT just around the corner there.
* 12 cups is my estimated coffee consumption Saturday night for our storm event.
