Supercell thunderstorms developed late this afternoon across the Texas Panhandle and moved northeastward into Oklahoma and Kansas.
Tornadoes touched down early this evening near McLean in Gray County, Texas and 6 miles NE of Headley in Donley County, Texas.
A tornado warning was in effect until 9:30 p.m. for Woodward County in Oklahoma. The severe thunderstorm was just east of the town of Woodward, infamous for a devastating tornado that virtually wiped the town off the map in the 1940s. A TVS is now showing on this storm.
A new tornado watch is being issued across parts of Texas and Oklahoma. It will go until 6 a.m. CST. The activity will likely congeal into a squall line later tonight.
Severe weather will spread eastward overnight. A significant outbreak of severe weather is expected tomorrow across eastern Louisiana, southeastern Arkansas and into western Mississippi. It will eventually spread into Alabama tomorrow night. There is a significant threat of severe weather tomorrow night mainly between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The main mode of severe weather appears it will be damaging winds but we will be monitoring the threat of tornadoes.
