A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Calhoun, Talladega and St. Clair Counties until 545 a.m.
The area inside the RED polygon is the warning area. Please look for your location. If you are in or near the warning area, be inside safe shelter until the storm passes.
Some communities that are close to the path of the severe storm include: Pell City, Riverside, Lincoln, Ragland and Ohatchee.
Sirens are sounding in parts of Calhoun County according to policy with a severe thunderstorm warning…but this is NOT a tornado warning.
This storm could produce severe hail the size of pennies or larger and damaging winds. It contains deadly lightning. Heavy rains could cause flooding, reduce visibility or cause you to lose control of your car.
It will be affecting I-20 between Cook Springs and Riverside shortly.
CALL TO ACTION:
If you are in the path of this thunderstorm, go now to safe shelter now in a substantial building or well built house. Go to the lowest floor, in an interior room away from windows and electrical equipment or plumbing fixtures. Stay off the phone. Try to shield yourself from flying debris. Be prepared to get under something sturdy. Do not drive during a severe thunderstorm.
Remember that thunderstorms can and do produce tornadoes with little or no advance warning.
