The storm in Blount County is slightly weaker…

It is centered between Nectar and Garden City…moving NE at over 40 mph.

The severe thunderstorm warning for Blount County is being allowed to expire and is being replaced with a significant weather alert.

The severe thunderstorm warning continues for extreme eastern St. Clair County until 545. Strong storm southwest of Ragland moving NE. Will hug county line and may brush western sections of Calhoun County. The warning though was cancelled for Clahoun and Cleburne.

Things are clearing out now across West Central Alabama and much of Central Mississippi according to radar and infrared satellite imagery. This is ominous news for later.

All of the area is under a HIGH RISK outlook for severe weather today including the possibility of significant tornadoes.
