NICE AND QUIET: A very benign weather pattern will continue across Alabama for the rest of this week, and most likely for the next two weeks. This is great news for a part of the nation recovering from a deadly tornado outbreak.
There will be some cirrus clouds around today, but lots of sunshine with a high in the mid 60s. A good chance we see 70 tomorrow, and then the numbers drop off a bit on Thursday and Friday with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 60s. No rain through Friday with very dry air holding in the lower levels.
THE WEEKEND: A weakening cold front will bring some risk of showers Saturday night, and perhaps on Sunday, but with limited upper air support and very little low level moisture, I sure don’t expect much rain. Highs over the weekend will remain in the 60s.
LONG RANGE: A strong disturbance will move from Southeast Texas into the western Gulf of Mexico early next week, but that system won’t bother us at all, and most of next week looks dry with relatively comfortable temperatures. The primary storm track will shift northward, and we should go up into the 70s by the middle of next week. We expect temperatures to be above normal, and rainfall to be below normal in the March 13-23 time frame. That doesn’t mean the weather will be dry that entire period, but the chance of major storm systems looks pretty small. Again, a very nice break for Alabama and the Deep South.
