Our weather sure looks tame for the next seven days. A weak wave will bring some clouds to the state tonight and tomorrow, but any showers should be widely scattered due to limited moisture and little upper air support. Then, the weather will be dry and mild Sunday through Tuesday with highs up in the low 70s on most days.
We will be watching an upper low that will form over Texas Sunday; that will open up into a weakening wave and move through Alabama late Wednesday and Wednesday night, but like the system tomorrow the moisture will be very limited and it most likely won’t be a big rain producer.
Late next week, a strong upper trough will form over the eastern U.S., which should drive a surface cold front through the state Thursday night or early Friday. There will probably be a band of showers along the front, but rain should not be all that heavy. The big story will be a temporary pop of cold air that will roll in here on Friday (a week from today) and Saturday (St. Patrick’s Day)… that will probably drop highs into the 50s and lows below the freezing mark.
LONG RANGE: No real sign of any serious weather problems in the March 19-26 time frame; temperatures should be above normal and rainfall below normal in the projected upper air pattern.
