Seems highly likely that another watch of some type will affect parts of Alabama later tonight. Could be a Severe Thunderstorm Watch or a Tornado Watch.
At 8 o’clock tonight a long line of intense thunderstorms extended from near Little Rock across NW Tennessee and through Central Kentucky. Moving SE but not very fast.
Several individual thunderstorms have developed out ahead of the main line over the north portions of Limestone and Madison County in Extreme North Alabama.
Just before 7 pm, a tornado was reported one mile east of Jonesboro, in NE Arkansas with buildings damaged.
The Storm Prediction Center maintains an enhanced moderate risk of severe weather tonight as far south as Southern Arkansas, Extreme NW Mississippi and West and Central Tennessee. This includes Nashville and Memphis.
A light risk extends as far south as the North half of Alabama.
It will be late tonight before this main line of thunderstorms reaches Central Alabama, places like Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston. That may help a bit in lessening the threat.
Numerous hail reports today in the severe weather areas.
All we can do is watch and wait and make more fresh coffee. We will probably be awake most of the night.
