A line of intense thunderstorms continues moving southward across North Alabama late tonight. The line is dropping south at 30 mph.
A tornado warning is in effect for part of Jackson County until 11:45 p.m. Thunderstorms are very intense over much of Jackson County including a possible tornado west of Scottsboro. High winds and hail are also possible along with torrential rains.
A severe thunderstorm warning continues for Madison County until 11:45 p.m.
Thunderstorms over southern Lawrence County are increasing. They will move into Cullman and southern Morgan Couties. Look for a warning from these storms. Sure enough…severe thunderstorm warning for Lawrence and Franklin Counties until 12 midnight.
The line over Northeast Alabama is acelerating southward, showing signs of producing wind damage over Jackson, DeKalb and Marshall Counties. Can’t rule out the possibility of small spin up tornadoes also.
Watch the storm dropping into Winston County. It shows signs of producing damaging winds and could get even better organized. It will pass near Addison. It shows signs of going into rotation. Could produce a tornado. It is headed rapidly toward Cullman County.
Back in Mississippi…a dangerous looking storm was north of Tupelo. We will have to watch it.
A new severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for northern Georgia. To keep things nice and even, the NWS has added five counties to the Alabama severe thunderstorm watch…Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, Randolph, and Talladega till 5:00 AM CDT.
The tornado watch for the Tennessee Valley continues, but the NWS Huntsville has cleared Colbert, Lauderdale and Limestone Counties.
