Showers continue to spread into West-Central and NW Alabama. The intensity of the lightning has diminshed somewhat during the last hour. A line of showers out ahead of the main storms extended from near Ft. Payne to Guntersville, Oneonta, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and Eutaw. These are not very strong.
The heavier showers, including a few thunderstorms, were between Fayette and Double Springs in Winston and Fayette Counties. The strongest storms of all were passing just north of the Alabama-Tennessee borner north of Huntsville.
Movement generally eastward.
We are also watching a cluster of fairly strong thunderstorms in Central Mississippi. They have weakened a bit, but eventually they may approach Lamar County in West Alabama.
The Storm Prediction Center still has most of Alabama under a Slight Risk of severe weather today. The exceptions are the NW corner and the Mobile-Gulf Shores coastal area.
