The main shower and thunderstorm activity is pushing east late this afternoon.
The lion’s share of the activity is east of I-59 and AL-5 from Gadsden to south of Vance to near Camden.
One small but fairly strong storm was in Bibb County NW of Brent. This storm will pass into northern Shelby County and affect areas along and just south of I-459 as it moves NE.
Some light showers are over the Tennessee Valley.
A narrow line of storms is starting to form over eastern Mississippi. This activity will sweep across the area ahead of the front, which is now approaching the Alabama/Mississippi border.
The front should reach the Tuscaloosa area about 730 p.m. and Birmingham about 9 p.m.
The heavier weather is over East Central Alabama. Two tornado warnings at this time: Macon County until 5:30 p.m. and Bullock County until 5:30 p.m. Sedgefield and Union Springs are in the path of t he Bullock County tornado.
Tornado watch for South and South Central Alabama until 5 p.m. New watch for Southeast Alabama until 11 p.m. New watch coming shortly for southern sections will likely consolidate things.
Starting to clear counties in West Alabama from the watch. Greene… Hale and Sumter have been dropped.
