That rain area that was over West Alabama has ben depressed southward and now extends from South Marengo County down across Choctaw and Clarke County. Moderate in intensity. A few spots of heavy rain.
Out ahead of that, a new line of showers developed over South Alabama from near Greenville to Union Springs.
Meanwhile, the much advertised cold front has entered NW Alabama. This welcomed front has passed Muscle Shoals, Decatur, Russellville, Red Bay and Columbus, Miss., and was getting close to Huntsville, Cullman and Tuscaloosa.
Some showers have developed near the front but they are few and far between and light.
The dew point has dropped into the 40s over NW Tennessee and North Arkansas while it was still in the 60s across Alabama, evenas high as 65 and 66.
The dew point is a much better indicator of moisture than the relative humidity.
I suppose (as I reach back to my 4th grade horse sense, or mule sense) that we should call this a “cool” front instead of a cold front, although a cold front is the standard weather reference.
We will see some temperatures in the 40s Friday morning and Saturday morning with much lower humidity.
