The heaviest rain has shifted down into the extreme southern part of the state, mainly over the north part of Mobile and Baldwin Counties. This includes some thunderstorms with a decent amount of lightning. Other showers were scattered across the southern counties.
Over North Alabama, the cold front continues to move SE. Just before 1:00 the front extended from near Scottsboro in NE Alabama to near Cullman, Jasper and Fayette. A line of showers has developed along the front, but they are not especially heavy. Most of them are light with a few moderate showers.
With the front continuing to push SE, the Storm Prediction Center is somewhat concerned that some isolated thunderstorms could produce some damaging winds and large hail over South Alabama, extreme SE Mississippi, SE Louisiana and the western part of the Florida Panhandle. They do not believe that a severe thunderstorm watch will be needed.
Clearing will take place over much of the area tonight. After that, it will be mostly sunshine Thursday all the way through early next week. We will see some weekend temperatures drop into the 40s, especially in the North Alabama valleys. Daytime humidity will be much lower.
REGIONS CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC
The Senior PGA Tournament will be at the Ross Bridge Resort in Birmingham. All indications point to ideal weather Friday, Saturday and Sunday with low daytime humidity and highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. There will be a noticeable coolness to the air early each morning.
